The evolution of technology and our constant persistence in being accustomed with it, lead towards a separation of the past and the present. Our experience though, shows that such a separation is not valid. Cultural heritage is an inseparable and large part of a country's identity. It is a precious legacy with significant needs for preservation, efficient management and promotion. These can be achieved today with the support of new technologies.

Cultural heritage preservation has been facing many challenges as we witness the new millennium. Novel ideas give answers to the digitisation problem. Both visualisation and transmission of digital information compose one major research field that offers practical solutions and mechanisms for the promotion and dissemination of heritage. Modern digitisation systems allow the accurate three dimensional archiving of architectural creations, artefacts and historical remains.

We have a moral debt to our ancestors to protect this cultural heritage.
